USA PRO CHALLENGE BIKE PROJECT PRIZE WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

Three prize winners were announced this week for the The USA Pro Challenge Bike Project that we curated for DIA and Visit Denver.  The winning entries this year are as follows:
1) Sukle Advertising with RadioShack-Nissan-Trek
2) PlatteForum with Liquigas-Cannondale
3) Mike Bernhardt with Garmin-Sharp-Barracuda
All of the bikes are on display currently at DIA atop the baggage claim terminals, where they will remain throughout the month of August.  Plus Gallery associate Ryan Pattie just completed a terrific short documentary on the project, which can be viewed on the Plus Gallery vimeo page at:

NEXT TIME YOU PASS THROUGH DIA VIEW THE USA PRO CHALLENGE BIKES INSTALLED AT THE BAGGAGE CLAIM

This year's bike project supported by Denver International Airport and Visit Denver in conjunction with the USA Pro Challenge event was a major success.  Bike's were unveiled Wednesday evening in a celebration at PlatteForum, then moved immediately over to DIA where they now grace the top of 12 of the airports baggage claims.  Certainly worth spending a little extra time if you are passing through DIA during August, and by all means worth a trip over to the airport if you are not.

JOIN PLATTEFORUM NEXT WEDNESDAY FOR UNVEILING OF USA PRO CYCLING CHALLENGE BIKE PROJECT

The USA Pro Cycling Challenge is now in it's second year, and so is the bike project that was launched in 2011 to coincide and bring extra dimension to the event throughout the art community.  13 artists have been selected by curator and Plus Gallery owner Ivar Zeile to transform new bicycles into works of art, to be displayed throughout the month of August on the baggage carousels at the Denver International Airport.   This year 12 of the artists were paired with teams from the US and around the world that will be competing in Challenge, with the instructions to interpret the team spirit creatively with their bike.  The 13th artist was paired with the USA Pro Cycling Challenge itself and will be displayed on the floor at DIA during August.
PlatteForum will be this year's host for the bike unveiling reception, the public's first chance to see the bikes and to meet the artists selected this year.  We welcome you to come join us that evening for this singular project and to support one of Colorado's now signature sporting events.

Colorado Artists turn bicycles into Works of Art for USA Pro Cycling Championship

11 artists from Colorado were selected by Plus Gallery owner Ivar Zeile to take brand new Cannondale bicycles and turn them into works of art, each pairing with a country that will be racing next month in the state for the historic USA Pro Cycling Challenge.  Plus Gallery hosted an unveiling event for the bikes on Thursday, July 28th, the only opportunity for the Denver public to see the bikes before moving on to Denver International Airport where they will be prominently displayed atop the baggage claim terminals during the month of August.

Here are select images of the artists and/or their bikes, you have to guess which country each one represents.....otherwise you can find out onsite at DIA starting Monday August 1st.
