SEPTEMBER 20TH - DAY OF THE DIGERATI

On Friday September 20th we are quite certain you will want to play hooky from class, call in sick from work, cancel your open table reservations and spend the evening with us.  If so, the following agenda will bring you closer to nirvana:

Artist Roundtable: Denver Digerati 2013
Presented by Emergent Digital Practices @ The University of Denver

3pm at 2121 East Asbury Ave in the C-cubed Studios (top floor of the Shwayder Art Building)

DU's Emergent Digital Practices program will host a forum with Denver Digerati and six of the artists commissioned to create original works for the public within the unique infrastructure of the Denver Theatre Districts LED screens in Downtown Denver.  Denver Digerati curators Ivar Zeile and Ryan Pattie will moderate a discussion around the topic of how technology is transforming animation and motion-based art, the artists individual responses to the task of the commissions, and how these works might transform traditional notions of public art.  The roundtable precedes the unveiling of the seven artworks commissioned by the DTD that evening as Denver Digerati's final Friday Flash program of the year.
Friday Flash No. 5 - Unveiling of Commissioned Artists works

Presented at the corner of 14th and Champa, downtown Denver at 6:30pm

For 2013 the DTD and Denver Digerati set out an ambitious new agenda for activating public space in downtown Denver's core, with our summer series of Friday Flash events occurring monthly and the initiation of a new program to commission artists to create new works specifically for the LED screen at 14th and Champa, where Friday Flash takes place. Friday Flash No. 5 is the highly anticipated conclusion of the series, where we will unveil brand new, never before seen works by seven distinct talents. All of the commissioned artists have supported the DTD and Denver Digerati's initial efforts in our first three years in one context or another. The artworks created through the commissions will become part of the DTD's permanent collection, the first of its kind and a vital change to the nature of public art. This scintillating batch of cutting-edge works are by Denver artists Chris Coleman, Bryan Leister, Quintin Gonzalez and Justin Beard, along with Canadian wunderkid Alex McLeod, the best thing out of D.C Jonathan Monaghan, and someone so talented he has to be from Denver, Milton Croissant the third, now living in Baltimore.

Friday Flash No. 5 will take place on Friday, September 20th starting at 6:30pm at the corner of 14th and Champa Street in downtown Denver.
