The third phase of New Zealand artist Shannon Novak's global art project "Sound Fragments" will be unveiled worldwide on Tuesday, April 6th, with select galleries across the planet installing their individual fragment within their respective spaces that day for the remainder of the experiment through May 2nd. Each fragment is a visual representation of a single musical note, such as "A Flat Minor 7 negative" in the case of Plus Gallery. Novak seeks to explore the link between colour, sound, shape, time, emotion, and social context with this global study that examines the interrelationship between spatial form and social activity. Collectively, the individual notes manifest a sound wave that spreads sound fragments throughout gallery spaces around the world.
All of the fragments are to be sold with proceeds benefitting non-profit organizations individually selected by the participating galleries. Plus Gallery encourages our patrons to bid on our fragment throug the duration of its display. We'll donate 100% of the sale to PlatteForum, our favorite arts organization that brings the creative process to underserved youth throughout Denver.
