JOIN PLUS GALLERY FOR FIRST TEA, VIOLA, AND DISCUSSION OF CLOUD WALLS

The "Cloud Walls" at Plus Gallery are part of the current exhibition by Bruce Price, and like everyday clouds they are to shift and transform throughout the exhibition.  Those who have seen the exhibition so far have had a chance to view Singer Gallery director Simon Zalkind's interpretation, utilizing approximately half of the 68 small scale works towards a concept relating to precipitation, which he describes as follows:
"I like the cloud image/metaphor a lot. I like the fact that Bruce alludes to what he calls their "indeterminate" quality - evanescent, ungraspable, elusive, shifting - always in the process of dissolving and becoming. I chose to consider these small works as "precipitate" - the clouds' generous downpour (raindrops, hailstones?), and I have hung them on the wall so as to approximate that phenomenon. I like that they are small - it represents the desire for compression and immediacy, a willingness to hint and improvise rather than assert. At the same time these little paintings might be also said to conflate large and small, to blur the boundaries between one scale and another. "
Join Plus Gallery this Wednesday evening from 6-7pm to discuss the finer points of the Zalkind's effort, enjoy tea, and engage in a performance on the viola by none other than the artist himself.  Other fanfare might ensue, and you certainly don't want to miss the opportunity to become eligible as the final guest installer of the cloud walls for the final week of the exhibition.
