Xi Zhang has drawn an unusual amount of attention to his work and
career since moving from his hometown of Kaifeng, China to study at
the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in Denver in 2004. We
know exactly why, Zhang is one of the most natural, gifted and forward
thinking artists of his generation, not just in Denver but in the
Unites States. Zhang is now officially a citizen of the US, as
of this summer he received his permanent status from the US Government
as an ?Artist of Extraordinary Ability.? And so it is fitting
that 5280 pays tribute to Zhang as one of the forces within Denver
burgeoning art scene, as witnessed by their latest art-feature
?Outside the Lines,? available on newsstands and select locations
throughout the area now. Xi's abilities are awe inspiring, both
to us as well as to many of his fellow artists in the area, as well as
