PLUS GALLERY ARTIST TSEHAI JOHNSON FEATURED IN "PURE PLEASURE" AT BMOCA JUNE 5th

The Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA) opens its doors after major renovations next Friday, June 5th with the exhibition "Pure Pleasure" featuring a variety of prominent artists including Plus Gallery's own Tsehai Johnson. Johnson has always been one of the most daring artists in the genre of ceramics and is one of the top contemporary artists working within Denver. Her new installation "Pattern Control" is an expansion of ideas that were on view during last summer's blockbuster show "Disorderly," the final exhibition in the old Plus Gallery space at 2350 Lawrence Street, and should prove to be a terrific component to BMOCA's kickoff event.

The City of Boulder owns the building that houses BMoCA and has installed an elevator, reoriented the gallery spaces making the building user friendly and increasing compliancy with ADA guidelines. Additionally, BMoCA’s second floor space has been opened, revealing the west windows and making the space multi-functional and beautiful, usable for both programs and events. Over the course of the museums 4-month closure a relationship was developed with the University of Colorado School of Architecture department and the result is a stunning newly designed entry space made from post-consumer, recycled and reclaimed materials. The museum will present a full ten days of exciting programs starting with the launch on June 5th, for more information and the full itinerary visit http://www.bmoca.org
