Plus Gallery artist Lenka Konopasek has been successful in getting her artwork beyond the regular confines of the intermountain region lately, most recently having been accepted into the Paperworks 2009 International Juried Competition currently taking place at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City. The exhibition has been juried by Maura Heffner, Exhibition Manager at the Museum, with entries limited to drawings, graphics, sculpture, 3D and bound books only. The Museum hosts a reception for the exhibition this Saturday, August 8th with the work remaining on view till August 30th.
Konopasek is also making a large hanging installation for ARTPRIZE in Grand Rapids Michigan in the Fountain Street Church, set to commence in September.
RMCAD SUMMER NEWSLETTER FEATURES PLUS GALLERY ARTIST KAREN McCLANAHAN
The Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, one of the most formidable art-schools in the region, has released their summer newsletter featuring stories on RMCAD alumni and activities that further attest to the vitality of the school. The summer issue features a nice write-up on Plus Gallery artist Karen McClanahan, acknowledging her major contribution to the grand-reopening of the gallery this last march in our new location. PLUS GALLERY ARTIST JON RIETFORS INCLUDED IN ASPEN EXHIBITION OPENING AUGUST 6TH
Plus Gallery artist Jon Rietfors, who recently delivered three remarkable works to the gallery, is being featured with other recent works at the Red Brick Center for the Arts in Aspen in the exhibition "Contemporary Reflections." In addition to Rietfors, the exhibition features Shannon Neuman, Amy Tessier, Hannah Stouffer, Carrie Smalley and Leslie Benson. The opening reception is being held tonight, Thursday August 6th from 5-7pm. Rietfors last had work on view in Denver at the CVA in 2007 alongside Gregory Crewdson and other nationally recognized artists.
