Last Saturday, September 24th, Plus Gallery hosted one of the most unique and inspiring events of the year. Kagen Schaefer spent the last four + years working on a commission piece for a very unusual client, one who is known worldwide as an adventurous film director and who commissioned the artist on the premise that "money was no object" and that he wanted the artist to be inspired. What sounds like a dream commission resulted in four years of extreme effort to create a fantastic work that we are certain will one day be in a major museum collection. Kagen, who is a master woodworker and renowned across the world for his intricate puzzle-boxes, created a complex and beautiful desk that carries many secrets and interior chambers that have the ability to astound the user, at least if they can figure out how to unlock them. The evening was exclusive to Schaefer's friends and Plus Gallery clients; for those who were unable to attend we recommend viewing some of the video taken by gallery assistant Ryan Pattie that evening:
The presentation was also captured in an overhead view and can be seen by visiting the Plus Gallery facebook page, follow the link from our website at http://www.plusgallery.com
What made the evening especially memorable was the combination of Kagen's singular work surrounded by his sister Robin's magnificent paintings, two of Denver's major talents proving the caliber of artwork that is being created here.
